The #tragicbackstory…
When my wife expressed interest in taking up playing harp, several years ago; she was gifted a small ‘hack-astani’ harp with 19 strings. As a woodworker since high school shop class, I looked at the diminutive piece of musical trash and thought; “I can do better than that.”
I gave up the notion that I build harps as a hobby after selling my 15th harp, and now I do orders for my harps in custom hardwoods. (And occasional make enough to feed our two kids.)

Designs and inspiration
The Celtic Raven was my first foray into designing a harp, and I based it off another harp makers’ design and changed the aesthetics to fit my idea. The iteration on this harp is where it has truely morphed into a different harp than the original I was riffing off of. I have made this harp with flat back, slab back, and stave back; and what started as a 19 string, now boasts 26.
The Rioga Harp was my own design from the drafting table on up. I use the Irish/Gaelic term “Rioga” since this design just seems to emenate a regal bearing ríoga
